Kokopelli-Blog-Theme-Event

Theme evening:
Clothing

On Thursday 21 April we screen the award-winning documentary by Stéfanne Prijot, The Story of a Panty and of Those Who Make It.

The film offers a compelling glimpse into the lives of those who work in the shadows of the textile industry.

At each stage of production, from country to country, the story of a pair of panties takes us into the intimacy of the lives of five women, each a link in a global production chain.

The film questions the value one gives to clothing, but even more importantly to the lives of those who make it

After the film, two entrepreneurs, Tine Buysens and Soraya Wancour, will take the floor.

Tine Buysens is the face of 'Corporate Social Responsibility' at Bel&Bo.

As a 100% Belgian family business, the company is committed to values such as respect for nature and people.

They want to build a more beautiful world. A world in which trendy Belgian fashion is produced in a sustainable and transparent way.

The So Good So You! collection is made with low impact items from sustainable materials. The company has a heart for people and a heart for our planet.

Soraya Wancour is a designer and became an entrepreneur through her Start-up Studio AMA.

She strives for an alternative within the fashion industry that is all too often built on the exploitation of people and the environment.

The AMA collection is made of residual materials from the local textile industry. The design is adapted to the possibilities of a local social workshop, where the clothes are made by people with a distance to the regular labour market.

With her collection, Soraya wants to set an example in how you can make a positive impact by wearing clothes that match your values.
